Construction of the Twin Cities Road roundabouts in Galt is proceeding with major work currently being done in the northwest quadrant. The project includes widening the thoroughfare and adding features to slow traffic. It is scheduled to be completed in March.
Public Works staff is scheduled to speak about the roundabouts at Thursday’s Galt District Chamber of Commerce meeting and at the Oct. 25 Rotary Club gathering.
Meanwhile, a second change order is being processed that will yield a cost reduction of $74,000, according to City Manager Jason Behrmann.
The California Department of Transportation has agreed to modifications allowing less expensive overpass fencing and retaining wall materials, Behrmann wrote in his weekly online newsletter.
City staff is pursuing a third deductive change order that would reduce the cost of street lighting.
