Two seats on both the Galt and Lodi city councils are up for election in November, along with several seats on local school boards, rural fire districts, water districts and municipal advisory councils.
The filing period opened Monday and extends to Aug. 8. In any office in which the incumbent doesn't run, the filing period will be extended an additional five calendar days.
Lodi City Council
Mayor JoAnne Mounce and Councilman Bob Johnson pulled papers this week, but they have yet to file for re-election.
Mounce, this year's mayor, was elected to the City Council for the first time in 2004 after losing two years earlier. Johnson was elected in 2004 as well.
Galt City Council
Neither incumbent, Tim Raboy and Barbara Payne, have pulled nomination papers for reelection, but three others have, including Randy Shelton, who served on the council for four years before being edged out for re-election by Andrew Meredith by 27 votes in 2006.
Also pulling nomination papers as of Tuesday afternoon are Rodney Stanhope and Fredrick Goethel.
In addition to the two City Council seats up for grabs, Galt's city clerk and treasurer are on the ballot. Incumbent City Clerk Liz Aguire and Treasurer Shaun Farrell have pulled papers. The treasurer's job is to invest city money into interest-bearing accounts.
