Lodi firefighters are holding a fundraiser today to raise money for the Breast Cancer Research Foundation at Chili’s Grill and Bar, 2745 W. Kettleman Lane.

The firefighters have planned several fundraisers to raise money during October, which is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Supporters can bring in a flyer to Chili’s anytime today or on Oct. 26, and 15 percent of their food purchase will go to the foundation. The firefighters will also be taking cash donations and selling T-shirts during the lunch, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., and dinner, from 5 to 7 p.m.

Many of Chili’s servers have also purchased shirts to wear during the fundraiser in support.

“They have gone over and above and been very supportive of our efforts,” said Brad Doell, president of the Lodi Firefighters Association.

The pink shirts include a pink ribbon and say “Lodi Fire Dept.” on the back. You can also purchase a shirt for $12 between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. at all of the Lodi fire stations, as well as the department’s administration building at 25 E. Pine St.

Station locations are 210 W. Elm St., 705 E. Lodi Ave., 2141 S. Ham Lane and 180 N. Lower Sacramento Road.

Should graduations return to the Grape Bowl?

Lodi Unified leaders are moving Lodi and Tokay high school graduations from the Grape Bowl to the Spanos Center at UOP in Stockton. They cite limited seating, costs and unpredictable weather at the Grape Bowl. But others say graduations at the Grape Bowl are an important Lodi tradition, and one reason many supported renovating the stadium. What do you think?
