Emeritus at Austin Gardens is launching Shade Brigade, a community outreach effort to help area seniors stay cool. During the summer months, the organization will be delivering coolers full of popsicles, juice and fruit, along with safety tips on staying healthy during hot weather.

“We’re also ensuring seniors are safe in their homes and providing resources if they need help in staying cool,” said Helen Borsting, executive director for Emeritus at Austin Gardens, in a press release.

Shade Brigade is being launched in communities across the nation as part of the Emeritus Senior Living’s Safely Somewhere program. For those who know of a senior in need, call Angela Conner, community relations director, at 209-333-8033.
