Lodi police arrested a woman on Saturday on suspicion of possessing and intending to sell methamphetamine.

Special enforcement officers who were looking for gang and drug activity recognized the driver of a nearby vehicle as a woman wanted by Lodi police, said Sgt. Val Chaban of the Lodi Police Department.

Officers pulled over Cynthia Tomasello, 52, around 7 p.m. along South Cherokee Street. She was wanted on felony charges of possessing a controlled substance and possessing controlled paraphernalia.

Officers searched Tomasello’s vehicle and said they found a little less than a quarter ounce of methamphetamine, Chaban said.

But in addition to the felony warrant and reportedly possessing methamphetamine, officers arrested Tomasello on suspicion of selling the drug because of the way it was packaged, Chaban said. Officers said Tomasello had stored less than a gram of methamphetamine in several separate packages.

On Monday, Tomasello was transferred to San Joaquin County Jail, where she is being held on suspicion of possessing a controlled substance, intending to sell a controlled substance, transporting and selling a controlled substance, driving with a suspended license and a felony warrant.

She’s being held without bail and is scheduled to appear in court today.
