James Hasselton Turner, former newspaper editor and bookstore owner, died at his Lodi home, June 1. He was 87.
He was born Aug. 1, 1925 in Pacolet, S.C., and moved to California in 1952. Later he answered an ad for a reporter at the Lodi News-Sentinel, where he was eventually promoted to managing editor. After leaving the News-Sentinel in the 1960s, he opened Jim Turner's Bookstore on School Street and operated it for many years.
