Andrea Maley doesn’t have dozens or hundreds of acres to grow grapes and produce wine. She has two. And on Tuesday, Maley will try convince the San Joaquin County Board of Supervisors those two acres are enough land to fulfill her dream of opening a quaint winery in Lodi.

Maley, a Lodi resident and longtime winemaker, first asked the county in 2012 for permission to construct the winery over a period of 10 years along Davis Road near Highway 12.

What ever happened to creative thinking?! Simply require the production of 36,000 gallons of wine prior to the first marketing event. Wine tasting in the tasting room should proceed. Folks on the BOS should not be controlled by the SJFB, 32 years of experience in the wine business, I would say Ms. Maley is, as Commissioner Villapudua stated; "Maley is right for the task". The PC and the BOS have got to figure out how to be consistent with planning issues, otherwise their no better than the mess we have in WD.C. For folks worried about noise; All of you are in the heart of the Lodi Wine tasting/marketing/promotion and production region, sorry!

    John A.
