A gang associate who shot and killed two men at a quinceañera in Galt three years ago was sentenced Friday to 80 years to life in prison by a Sacramento County Superior Court judge.
Alfredo Daniel Tafoya, 21, received his sentence from Sacramento Superior Court Judge Greta Curtis Fall for the Nov. 28, 2009, killings of Carlos Montes, 24, and Efrain Zambrano, 20.
Tafoya shot the men after his friend got involved in an argument with them at the party. The Sacramento District Attorney's Office initially filed two first-degree murder counts, but jurors could not reach a decision in their deliberations, so prosecutors reduced the charges to second-degree murder.
