Cosumnes Fire Department personnel, who serve Galt and Elk Grove, will receive raises only if revenue to the district increases during the contract period, which ends June 30, 2015. For every 2 percent in revenue growth, the firefighters will receive a 1 percent salary increase, up to a total of 4 percent, according to a news release.

Firefighters, like all district employees, have not received any cost-of-living increases since 2008. The contract calls for the formation of a committee, including representatives from union and non-represented personnel, to discuss a districtwide recovery plan and develop recommendations for the board of directors.

“The Cosumnes firefighters (serving) Elk Grove and Galt, along with other Community Services District employees, have made significant sacrifices in order to bring financial stability to the district and to continue to provide quality services to our communities,” Chris McNay, district director for the firefighters union, said in a news release.

“These sacrifices won’t be easy on employees and their families, but will hopefully prevent any further loss of services or future layoffs,” McNay said.
