Amateur winemakers from across the state will square off today at Cal Expo for the 2011 California State Fair Home Wine Competition. An estimated 850 wines are expected to be judged by a panel of 110 volunteers, said chief judge G.M. “Pooch” Pucilowski in a press release.
The annual competition is open to California residents 21 or older who do not work in a professional wine-producing capacity or own a commercial winery. The winners of the competition will be honored at a ceremony July 21 at the California State Fair. For more information, visit www.bigfun.org.
