Visitors to Stillman-Magee Park in Clements and the Mokelumne River Day-Use area near Lake Camanche may pick up a life preserver for loaned use beginning on Saturday.
While the program, called Kids Don’t Float, is primarily for children, adult-sized life preservers are available as well. They may be picked up and returned at both parks and at the Clements Fire Station, 18901 E. Highway 88 at Mackville Road.
San Joaquin County requires that children under age 13 must wear a life preserver in the Mokelumne River.
Donations of new or slightly used life preservers will be accepted at the Clements Fire Station.
