In partnership with Pacific Gas and Electric Company, the California Department of Education has created a new program called the New Energy Academy through the Venture Academy charter school in Stockton.
PG&E has made a $1 million commitment to the New Energy Academy program, which will go toward curriculum development and upgrading classrooms at participating schools. Students in this program who graduate in 2013 will also receive $1,000 college scholarships. PG&E also donated $100,000 to help maintain the program and needed facilities.
