I have to agree wth K Lee. I cannot imagine sending my kids off to have someone else raise them. I cherish every moment I have with my children and wouldn't want to miss out on their lives. Why even have kids if you are just going to send them away. I have 3 great kids and like to think that it is because I have done a good job in raising them and I have loved every moment of it.

"By sending our kids away to school, we’ve learned as parents to give our kids the benefit of the doubt when it comes to making choices for themselves. We still offer advice and encouragement, but we can’t have the same level of interference in their lives that we might have had otherwise.” - Guy Marquardt

Interesting points of view on boarding school for high school students. Personally, I believe that most 14 year olds are not ready to leave home. Most 14 year olds still need to their parents physically present in their lives (daily). We should be an “interference” (as a 14 year old might say) in their lives at times, although I call it parenting. It’s what a parent is supposed to do.

It sounds like these kids, from the article, are getting a good education at their boarding schools, but the cost (not only financially…although it’s most certainly part of the picture) would be too high in my opinion. And one would have to make a VERY good living to afford the $144, 000 price tag for boarding school for just one child, let alone three! And that doesn't include another four years of tuition when they go to college!

With that said... I sincerely wish the very best for all of these families and their children. These parents have obviously thought long and hard about what is best for their children. And although I believe in different choices in raising children, I certainly respect these parents for doing what they believe to be best for their own children.

    Best wishes to all.
