A man wanted in Lodi for selling a controlled substance was arrested Wednesday when San Joaquin County Sheriff's deputies said he was carrying a substance believed to be methamphetamine and a stolen gun.
Officers stopped John Blackwell, 25, for riding without a bicycle light at 11:37 p.m. Wednesday in the town of August.
Deputies said they searched Blackwell and found a loaded Beretta .25 caliber semi-automatic handgun and four live bullets with one in the chamber. Deputies also said they found a clear plastic bag containing 4.9 grams of a white crystal-like substance, believed to be methamphetamine.
The firearm was determined stolen after a warrant check was performed. Deputies also learned Blackwell had a felony warrant for selling a controlled substance and driving with a suspended license.
Blackwell is being held in San Joaquin County Jail without bail.
