A resident of the Salvation Army's Hope Harbor shelter was knocked to the ground and had $500 cash stolen from her purse Wednesday night, according to Lodi police and the victim.
The woman, who has lived in Lodi for 23 years and at Hope Harbor for the past two months, was walking to the Sacramento Street shelter from the Salvation Army's headquarters on Lockeford Street when a man got out of a white SUV and stole her purse, which contained her savings. She said she carried the cash because she doesn't have a bank account.
