A 56-year-old Lodi man was in fair condition Monday afternoon at Kaiser Hospital in South Sacramento after crashing into a tree on West Turner Road early Saturday morning.

Douglas Taylor, 56, of Lodi, was airlifted to Kaiser with major injuries, CHP Officer James Smith said. The helicopter landed at Katzakian Park northwest of Turner Road and Chestnut streets to transport Taylor after the 7 a.m. crash, Smith said.

Taylor, who was driving west on Turner Road, was arrested on suspicion of drunken driving and being an unlicensed driver, Smith said. He ramined hospitalized at Kaiser, according to spokeswoman Shyresse Hill.

Lodi police officers and Woodbridge firefighters remained at the scene until the California Highway Patrol arrived to handle and investigate the crash.
