An accident Thursday at General Mills’ Lodi plant has resulted in the death of a male employee, company officials reported.

At approximately 11:30 a.m., Lodi police and Lodi firefighters responded to an EMS call at the General Mills plant after an employee was reportedly struck by a train.

The circumstances regarding the death are still under investigation, said Sheila Key, a company spokeswoman.

“An investigation is underway ... “ she said in a statement. “Our thoughts and prayers are with the family of our employee and with his many friends and co-workers in the community.”

The Lodi Fire Department could not be reached for comment regarding the incident as of press time.

Eventually the name of the person killed will be released. My condolences to the family whoever they are. I don't recall any work related deaths so serious as this at General Mills. The plant has a good track record of employee safety as far back as I can remember.
