  I must disagree with the idea that hospitals and cities are not typically in the "child care business." On the contrary, the City's Parks and Recreation Department provide After School Programs to offer school age child care on many elementary school campuses during the school year for working families. This leaves huge gaps, however, considering the modified traditional school year followed by Lodi Unified School District, which results in a Fall Break in addition to Winter Break, Spring Break and Summer vacation, during which time places like Camp Hutchins are invaluable for working families to ensure their children are safe and cared for. Many hospitals are known to provide on-site child care centers or child care centers associated with the hospital, both for hospital employees and the community. While I agree and respect the hospital's Mission, I feel it encompasses the scope of what Camp Hutchins stands for. Part of Lodi Memorial's Mission includes their commitment to "Improving community health and our community’s quality of life through direct and or supportive services." Camp Hutchins is just that, a supportive service in our community that demonstrates social responsibility, committment to the quality of life of our community, its working families and their children. Similarly, the City's Mission says it's "purpose is to enhance the quality of life for Lodi residents, reflecting our high community standards." To me, that partnership has all the elements necessary for success. All that's missing is including the families in the problem-solving process to create a
  winwinresolution.
