Restore the Delta will hold a press conference and rally close to where President Barack Obama will be speaking in Fresno, addressing drought assistance on Friday.

The group the goal of the trip is not a protest, as Obama has said he will veto HR3964, the Delta pumping bill. Instead, they hope to share the concerns of the Delta community with the president and national media. They ask that signs expressing other concerns about Obama’s positions not be part of this event.

Restore the Delta invites the public to ride the bus to Fresno for the event. All attendees will meet at the A.G. Spanos Building parking lot, 10100 Trinity Parkway in Stockton, at 5 a.m. Friday. The bus will leave promptly at 5:15 a.m.

A donation of any size to offset expenses is appreciated for all attendees, but no one will be turned away for lack of funds.

The group advises attendees to bring snacks on the trip and dress for a variety of weather, as well as money for a meal in Fresno.

Please RSVP as soon as possible so there is an accurate head count. Email stina@restorethedelta.org with your name and phone number, as well as the names of any guests.

Should graduations return to the Grape Bowl?

Lodi Unified leaders are moving Lodi and Tokay high school graduations from the Grape Bowl to the Spanos Center at UOP in Stockton. They cite limited seating, costs and unpredictable weather at the Grape Bowl. But others say graduations at the Grape Bowl are an important Lodi tradition, and one reason many supported renovating the stadium. What do you think?
