While it may not be enough to eliminate the drought, rain is expected to fall in Lodi for short periods in the next few weeks.
According to AccuWeather.com, a private weather forecasting service, rain is expected throughout the early morning and afternoon Thursday.
Brian Edwards, an AccuWeather meteorologist, said Lodi could experience as much as half an inch of rain this Thursday.
“I think you’ll see several hours of rain,” he said. “It won’t be enough in terms of helping this drought, but anything is good right now.”
Edwards said rain should fall in the area between 3 and 4 a.m., and then again between noon and 4 p.m.
Showers are expected on the afternoons of Feb. 5 and 7, which will also be slightly colder than what the area has been experiencing lately as both days dip in to the 50s.
AccuWeather has forecast that Feb. 8 will get as low as 45 degrees with rain as well.
The second week of February may also begin with periods of rain, while temperatures could range anywhere from 41 to 52 degrees. More occasional rain will be expected Feb. 15, which is expected to be as cold as 37 degrees and as warm as 55 degrees, according to AccuWeather.
Forecasters are also expecting rain to fall the final two days of February.
Edwards said the coming weeks will likely not produce more than half an inch of rain at a time.
“If there is one thing to say about the coming rain, there won’t be any significant rainfalls to change the way things have been lately,” he said.
