The city of Lodi is one step closer to hiring an interim fire chief.
Tonight, the City Council will consider approving a contract with former Folsom Fire Chief Dan Haverty. The veteran of 30 years will replace former chief Kevin Donnelly, who recently retired from the department to take the same postion in Redmond, Wash.
Haverty’s contract is for a bi-weekly salary of $7,200.
If the council approves the contract, Haverty would start on May 9, city spokesperson Jeff Hood said. Haverty, who retired from Folsom in 2010, will hold the position as the city looks for a full-time candidate. There is no timetable for how long Haverty could be the interim if the contract is approved, Hood said. A News-Sentinel story about Donnelly’s retirement last week incorrectly stated that Ron Heberle was being considered for the position.
