Its doors are shut and locked, the interior is dark and only a few chairs stand against a wall in what once was the Downtown Lodi restaurant known as King Tsin.
The restaurant, which was located just north of the intersection of North School and West Walnut streets, officially closed its doors on May 27 after 29 years in business.

This was my favorite restaurant in Lodi. I was devastated when I tried to get food there recently. I hope that they open up soon! I really need some sizzling rice soup.

Our family is devasted by The Ju family having to say goodbye to their family business!!! KingTsin is home for my family & friends. My husband & I found King Tsin when I was pregnant with our 2nd child 1983. it started with the friendly employees, great food, & a friendship with Theresa, that cont ALL these years. As stated in other comments the food , great & if you wanted something different or special it was on your table, made by them. As I said pregnant with our 2nd child my favorite, was, is" King Tsin prawns". Our son likes his spicy favorite & mine (not real spicy) to this day. Im sad not to have them, for awhile because the greed of a landlord & his money. Shame, shame, shame, on you. The King Tsin will come back stronger then before!!! We patrons are waiting not so patient but waiting for the return of the Ju Family, King Tsin!!!! Landlords of rentals here have for years,, running many a business out of Lodi because they are money hungry. One thing, over the years took me a long time to figure out, when asked where I lived, went to school, etc etc those I came in contacted with were negitive.. I would get," you or family must have money,or Lodi people snotty, snooty, feel your better then others." Here for 55yr (replant of S Dak) so proud of Lodi, where others over the years in neighboring towns, felt bad for me, that hurt me. My family moved for 4yrs because of my husband's job. We returned & it took me being away to see & understand what negitiveity people spoke of years before. Our kids asked why, we came back here & now they've moved away themselves. Lodi was once liveable, loveable not much anymore. Sad sad. We all deserve to make a living but also we need to work together to cont to live & thrive. Thereas enjoy somehow your time away but, ALL of Us are waiting with," OPEN ARMS Hungry Bellys" See you soon!!!!!!

One of our favorites, we too will be there when you reopen. Soon hopefully!

We love King Tsin and the Ju family! And we can't wait to see where you open your new doors. We'll be there to support you! Best wishes to you.

As usual, there must be more to this story. No one is going to raise the rent and have it sit vacant. I too am a huge supporter of King Tsin and will anxiously await their re-opening but to read into the landlords thinking based on one side of the story is irresponsible. Mr. Kirsten being the case in point.

Interesting perspective Doug...
Valentina Chaney posted at 7:05 am on Fri, Jun 8, 2012.
I would think there would be another good old boys wine tasting room locating there in the near future. They seem to love greedy landlords. Research the ownership of many of those buildings downtown and see for yourself who the greedy owners are who insist on elevating their rent and lease prices even the economy is in the dumps.
Betty Petersa posted at 11:31 pm on Thu, Jun 7, 2012.
What a shame, we've lost another good restaurant because someone got greedy and raised the rent too high. The same thing happened to the former Waffle Shop that used to be on Ham Lane, the former Prime Rib Inn that used to be in Stockton and is now the Hometown Buffet and also the the Hungarian restaurant that used to be on the corner of Harney and South Hutchins. Now everyone watch and pay attention as the old King Tsin building just sits unoccupied just like the former book store that used to be next door. He probably got his rent raised as well. Go for it Teresa...we are all behind you, waiting for you to come back and we can hardly wait.

And as the fourth empty bottle hits the floor, the Sentinel management is surely laughing. They seem to go out of their way to embarass others to make us who know what they're really like deflect our feelings away from the false impressions they give of themselves. Viva Tamarack water!

Mr. Scott, weren't you one of the bloggers that said there weren't any gob's in Lodi and that these were all conspiracy theories that were posted by Doug? Why the change of tune now?
Dave Kirsten posted at 4:50 pm on Thu, Jun 7, 2012.
Hey Scott, After reading the article your reaction was completely understandable. I do appreciate that you took the time to comment as you did. So you know I received a very apologetic and heart felt reply from Katie and I am convinced it was a simple misunderstanding. I make plenty of mistakes so I have no room to talk. DK
Jackson Scott posted at 3:23 pm on Thu, Jun 7, 2012.
My sincere apologies to Mr Kirsten for my error.
His statement that he asked the LNS not to use his name, and they did, is the second time I have heard of this happening in the past 4 weeks. The other article was written by Sara Jane Pohlman. Paul Zimmerman must be rolling over in his grave.
Jay Samone posted at 2:32 pm on Thu, Jun 7, 2012.
C'mon now Jackson - you know Doug's been banned from here permanently.............besides - the LNS takes it easy on everyone in this town......
Dave Kirsten posted at 1:22 pm on Thu, Jun 7, 2012.
Wow, I have taken quite a bit of flak over this. One if my friends sent me an email asking if there wasn't an orphanage somewhere I could throw out on the street. I know mistakes happen but this one defies logic. Here is what happened. Katie called Pat Patrick to see if he had information about the closure of King Tsin. He said he didn't know but to call Dave K. He is right next to King Tsin and he may know more. Katie called me and I told her both the building owner and Teresa are good friends and that I couldn't take sides. She seemed to understand that it was a sensitive issue and given the fact I have nothing to do with the building (I don't own or mamage it) there was no reason for me to comment. After agreeing not to use my name she took it upon herself to name me as the building manager. I have asked her in two emals where she came up with that information. She has not responded to that question. She did say she would print a correction tomorrow and I assume she will. In the meantime I am spending quite a bit of time today on damage control. Teresa hasn't returned my call and I can only hope she doesn't think I was uindermining her efforts to stay... I certainly was not. Marty has not returned my calls (I know he is busy). I would ask Katie to confirm (in these blogs) that what I am saying is 100% accurate.

Theresa Ju is a treasure. When my daughter asked about vegetarian options, Ms. Ju suggested several off-menu items. They were fantastic and we have been ordering them ever since.
Can't wait for King Tsin to return. Best of luck to Ms. Ju and staff.

Hooray for you Ms. Ju! It is time to take a stand against people who only worship money. I can assure you there are many of us who will keep searching for your new location. I will miss lunch in downtown Lodi.

"Property Manager Dave Kirsten could not comment on the closing of King Tsin."
I'm pretty sure he OWNS this property, like others downtown. To me this is the LNS taking it easy on one of the GOBs. Where's Doug when we need him? I did see him at House of Coffee's this week.
