Grape Bowl Classic this weekend

The 34th annual Grape Bowl Classic Band Review will be held on Saturday. The parade will begin at 8:30 a.m. on Century Boulevard and will include 27 bands with over 1,800 competitors representing schools throughout Northern California.

Robert Gross, founder of the Grape Bowl Classic, will serve as the grand marshal. Members of Boy Scout Troop 199 will present the colors.

The jazz competition will feature 16 bands and will be held during the parade. The field show will include 15 bands and will be held between 3 and 4 p.m. at Bear Creek High School.

Admission to the parade is free but there is a $10 fee for the field show competition. For more information, visit www.grapebowlclassic.org.

Lodi Unified leaders are moving Lodi and Tokay high school graduations from the Grape Bowl to the Spanos Center at UOP in Stockton. They cite limited seating, costs and unpredictable weather at the Grape Bowl.
