Much of Downtown Lodi, including the movie theater complex, was without power between 6 and 7 p.m. Friday because of a power outage. Downtown suddenly went dark when the utility pole made a loud boom that startled many affected people.
A city worker tracked the problem to a utility pole at the corner of Church and Locust streets, outside the Lodi News-Sentinel, and quickly made repairs that restored power to the area.

Just another episode in the tales of Lodi electric antiquated delivery system. Rather than using the humongous profits to build a greenhouse gas belching gas fired co-generation plant in conjunction with the dysfunctional Northern Ca. Power Assn., one of its "family", Ms. Kirkley, director of Lodi electric and Larry Hansen, chairperson of the NCPA board and to give cheap power to the commercial/industria lusers and biggest wasters and the highest rates in the nation for residential users, they need to stop paying city bills with profits and renew the complete electrical one-way fed delivery grid that's old and antiquated. As long a Lodi has the director, chair andd their NCPA "family" bleeding cash from Lodi ratepayers, residential rates will continue to sky rocket, power outages will get even worse and with the one-way only delivery system, should anything happen to PG&E transmission line that feed Lodi in that one direction, Ldi has no backup plan nor emergency system to power anyone but those services that have diesel run emergency power systems. When will Hansen, Kirkley and the dysfunctioal NCPA at least spend some of those profits creating a feed from both sides? A major electrical problem could leave all Lodi electric users without any kind of power transmission at all and be left in the dark for many days.
