The third annual Prom Closet will take place in early 2013, and organizers are already seeking donations of used dresses. The closet offers free dresses to any Galt Joint Union High School District student in need — and beyond, if they get enough donations.

Once again, organizations are accepting donations of new or gently used prom dresses, shoes, wraps and jewelry.

“As you talk to friends, relatives, students in college, sororities ... please let them know we would love their donations of items and have a location to store them,” said Laurie Bambas, the district’s outreach consultant. “I already have people asking me about volunteering and supporting the event.”

For more information contact Bambas at 209-745-3082, ext. 2019

Dresses and other items may be dropped off at Galt High School and Liberty Ranch High School, or in Lodi at Second Hand Rose 14 N. School St. Dresses will be available to girls in Galt and surrounding areas.

Should graduations return to the Grape Bowl?

Lodi Unified leaders are moving Lodi and Tokay high school graduations from the Grape Bowl to the Spanos Center at UOP in Stockton. They cite limited seating, costs and unpredictable weather at the Grape Bowl. But others say graduations at the Grape Bowl are an important Lodi tradition, and one reason many supported renovating the stadium. What do you think?
