A man was killed in a one-vehicle crash in Acampo shortly after 2 p.m. today, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The accident occurred on East Jahant Road, near North Lower Sacramento Road. Officer Angel Arceo with the highway patrol said the female driver of a white Dodge Caravan was traveling at a high rate of speed, then lost control and crashed through an iron gate. The vehicle rolled over and two of the car's passengers, who were not wearing seat belts, were ejected from the vehicle. The third passenger sustained minor injuries.

"There was only one woman wearing a seat belt, and that's why she's still standing," Arceo said.

Alcohol is believed to be a factor in the accident, and beer bottles were seen near the crashed vehicle.

The female driver of the Caravan sustained major injuries, but was responsive, Arceo said. She has been airlifted to UC Davis Medical Center.
