Commencing the first meeting with a full board in several weeks, the North San Joaquin Water Conservation District set steps in motion to clean up its financial records and move forward on the Tracy Lake project.
A financial statement for the district covering July 1 to Nov. 28 was released at the meeting. The board and several community members were confused by some line items on the statement.

It is good to see this group taking care of business.
I hope they can preserve the 20,000 acre feet of river water rights ( in wet years) as this is about 10% of the area ground water overdraft.
To put things into perspective----Lodi buys 6,000 acre feet of river water annually and has built a massive "treat and dirnk" river water treatment plant---3% of the over draft---at great cost to rate payers----about five million dollars a year for the next forty years.
My point is this:
Three council gentlemen have forced this massive "treat and drink" surface water plant we do not need and may never need.
We cannot put toothpaste back in the tube--we cannot unbuild this plant--I just want to know how much money this project has cost so far--- how much it will cost going forward--and how it benefits rate payers.
Please---councilfolk---ciity manager---LNS---anyone---tell us this is a good investment
