The 84-year-old Modesto woman who died in a head-on collision on Highway 12 west of Tower Park Marina on Sunday remains unidentified.
The woman was a passenger in a Kia Sportage that was hit head-on in the Potato Slough area at about 12:55 p.m. Sunday. She was extricated by the Jaws of Life, but died a short time later at Lodi Memorial Hospital, CHP Officer Ted Montez said Monday. The San Joaquin Coroner's Office had not released the woman's identity as of late Tuesday afternoon.
The driver of the Kia the woman was in, a 59-year-old man from Modesto, was listed in grave condition at San Joaquin General Hospital in French Camp. CHP officers were not available Monday or Tuesday to report whether the driver was still alive.
