San Joaquin County Planning Commission will consider approving an application to construct a winery in the Lodi area and to expand a second one.

The Commission will consider the following two applications on Thursday night:

  • To expand Watts Trust’s permit to allow amplified music indoors and outdoors and to allow 145 people to attend marketing events per year instead of the previously approved 100 people. The winery site is at the southeast corner of Highway 12 and Locust Tree Road in the Victor area.
  • To allow Andrea Maley to construct a small winery with 20 marketing events annually with up to 100 people attending. An existing 2,710-square-foot house would be converted into a a winery with a tasting room, commercial kitchen and bridal suite. The property is on the east side of Davis Road, about 1,200 feet south of Highway 12.

The Planning Commission is scheduled to consider the permits at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the county Public Health/Planning Auditorium, 1601 E. Hazelton Ave., Stockton.

Should graduations return to the Grape Bowl?

Lodi Unified leaders are moving Lodi and Tokay high school graduations from the Grape Bowl to the Spanos Center at UOP in Stockton. They cite limited seating, costs and unpredictable weather at the Grape Bowl. But others say graduations at the Grape Bowl are an important Lodi tradition, and one reason many supported renovating the stadium. What do you think?
