The filing period for candidates running for public office in San Joaquin County began Monday.
Candidates file their paperwork in the San Joaquin County Registrar of Voters office and have until March 7 to declare their candidacy. Registered candidates will appear on the June 3 ballot.
Notable races will include replacing James Willett as District Attorney. Deputy District Attorney Tori Verber-Salazar of Woodbridge and Gary Hickey of Lodi, a private attorney and former prosecutor, are the two candidates vying for that position.
Sheriff-Coroner-Public Administrator Steve Moore will face challenger Pat Withrow, a Sheriff’s Office sergeant.
Three candidates will compete to replace San Joaquin County Board of Supervisor for District 4, Ken Vogel, who will term out.
