Officials: Earthquakes pose less threat in Lodi

Despite lower risk, some Lodi buildings are fortified to withstand a temblor

City of Lodi and San Joaquin County officials say they are not too concerned about crumbling buildings or collapsing infrastructure in the event of a large earthquake like the one that struck Napa on Sunday.

But while some officials say the county is far enough from a major fault to avoid any extensive damage, many structures and roads have still been brought up to state code standards as set forth in the California Building Code.
