More than 20 law enforcement officers, firefighters and citizens helped search Thursday morning for a missing autistic boy, who was safely found several miles from his house.
A San Joaquin County Sheriff's deputy found the 10-year-old at around 8 a.m. along the Highway 99 frontage road between Woodbridge Road and Acampo Road. The deputy drove the boy home, where he was reunited with his family.
The boy's mother reported him missing around 6:45 a.m. Thursday after discovering he wasn't in his bed.
Several officers, along with cadets, members of the Partners program, firefighters and citizens, canvassed the neighborhoods around the family's house.
The boy had left home on his bicycle. But at some point, he dropped his bike and started walking.
