Assemblyman Bill Berryhill, R-Ceres, has been appointed one of two chief Republican whips. Berryhill, whose district includes Victor, Lockeford, Clements, Morada and eastern Acampo, and Assemblyman Dan Logue, R-Linda, were appointed to the whip position by Assembly Republican Leader Connie Conway of Tulare.

As a chief Republican whip, Berryhill will help mobilize Assembly members’ votes on legislation, act as a liaison between members and leadership, and help coordinate strategy within the caucus.

“I am honored that Assemblywoman Conway has selected me to be a member of her leadership team,” Berryhill said in an e-mail. “I look forward to assisting her on my issues of expertise, such as water, agriculture and regulatory and budget reform.”

Berryhill was elected to a second term in the Assembly in November. His brother, Tom, was elected to the State Senate, representing the entire Lodi area.

Assemblymembers Kristin Olsen, of Modesto, and Nathan Fletcher, of San Diego, were also named as Republican whips.

Just what we need, another RINO at the helm of the CaGOP. A Republican who has been given a grading of 67 by the California Republic Assembly. But then, we are here in the Lindsay Lohan of the country so what can we expect? California, The Golden State and trendsetter of the nation- turned laughing stock of the country. Every other state is rejecting Global warming legisltation and what do we do? Shoot down Prop 23 and give CARB even more power.

Should graduations return to the Grape Bowl?

Lodi Unified leaders are moving Lodi and Tokay high school graduations from the Grape Bowl to the Spanos Center at UOP in Stockton. They cite limited seating, costs and unpredictable weather at the Grape Bowl. But others say graduations at the Grape Bowl are an important Lodi tradition, and one reason many supported renovating the stadium. What do you think?
