Connie Hinkle has been selected as Valley Oaks Elementary School's new principal. The school is located in the Galt Joint Union Elementary School District, where school starts Monday.
She replaces Annette Lane, who was chosen for a curriculum leadership position at the Stanislaus County Office of Education.
Hinkle has served as an assistant principal at both the elementary and middle school levels in the Chino Valley Unified School District in Rancho Cucamonga.
Superintendent Karen Schauer said Hinkle has both middle school and elementary school administrative experience.
Her last administrative placement was at a high-performing and diverse elementary school with an API of 859, according to Schauer.
Prior to become an administrator, Hinkle taught middle school physical education and health.
She is curriculum-savvy, Schauer said, with experience in classroom walkthroughs and leading collaborative data analysis work with teacher teams that involve goal-setting and professional learning community practices.
"Ms. Hinkle's instructional leadership experiences are a good match for her work in our school district, since we practice and value these accountability skills, as well," Schauer said, adding that the new principal also has experience expanding parent involvement opportunities through annual parent academies developed through the National Parent Partnership for Schools.
Meanwhile, Jennifer Porter is serving as the new principal at Marengo Ranch Elementary School. She replaces Terry Metzger, who left for an administrative position in another district at the end of last school year.
Porter also has experience as an administrator at both the middle school and high school levels. She served as assistant principal at Greer and McCaffrey middle schools.
"Ms. Porter is an instructional leader and can greatly assist Marengo Ranch in effectively transitioning students from the elementary to middle school levels," Schauer said of the leadership promotion.
