The Lodi Chamber of Commerce is seeking different styles of entertainment for the two musical stages at the weekly Downtown Lodi Farmers Market, which will be held on Thursday evenings from June 6 to Aug. 29.

One stage, on South School Street across from Lodi Beer Company, will be for classic-type rock and roll music. On School Street near Elm Street, a new wine garden stage will be installed. That stage will feature acoustic or low-amplification jazz, new age or softer music played by a single artist or small combo.

Musicians will be asked to perform from 5 to 8:30 p.m., with a half-hour break at each stage. The Farmers Market audience ranges from 3,000 to 5,000 in attendance per night.

Interested artists should provide a promo package to the chamber, 35 S. School St., Lodi. A picture of the artist, a playlist and an audio CD or audio link should be included.

For more information, call Leslie Dietz at 209-367-7840, ext. 1-2, or email ldietz@lodichamber.com.

Should graduations return to the Grape Bowl?

Lodi Unified leaders are moving Lodi and Tokay high school graduations from the Grape Bowl to the Spanos Center at UOP in Stockton. They cite limited seating, costs and unpredictable weather at the Grape Bowl. But others say graduations at the Grape Bowl are an important Lodi tradition, and one reason many supported renovating the stadium. What do you think?
