A couple of weeks before Christmas, Zack Irwin got what seemed like a normal head cold. When he got worse and couldn't breathe, he went to Lodi Urgent Care, where he was given antibiotics for pneumonia.

Two days later, the 27-year-old law school student was in a medically induced coma at Lodi Memorial Hospital, unknowingly fighting for his life against H1N1, which was initially called swine flu.

Zack, I am so glad you survived and are doing well. Thanks for sharing your story. My dear friend went through a similar experience He was in intensive care for weeks, lost 50 pounds, and now is on his way to a complete recovery. The H1N1 is no joke. After watching my friend's ordeal I got the vaccine.

I'm glad you made it thru Zack. I have no Spleen and have Acid Reflux which made me more vulnerable to H1N1. So the H1N1 flu shot was especially important to me.
