Academic Decathlon Championship today

The 32nd annual San Joaquin County Academic Decathlon Championship concludes today with the Super Quiz. Eleven San Joaquin County high schools will take part in the event, including Middle College High School. The public is welcome to attend.

A Super Quiz is an event held in a large auditorium where competitors have to mark answers quickly and correctly on a provided sheet of paper. The winning team has recognition points added to the overall team score.

This event will be held at 2 p.m. at the Scottish Rite Auditorium located at 33 W. Alpine Ave. in Stockton. Students will also complete competitive tests, but they are closed to the public.

The awards ceremony will be held on Feb. 6 at the same location.

The winning team will earn the right to attend the State Academic Decathlon Championship held in Sacramento from March 14 through 17 with all fees paid for by the San Joaquin County Office of Education. Winning teams earn a $5,000 renewable tuition scholarship to University of the Pacific and various cash awards, medals and plaques.
