At around 8:30 a.m. today, a train struck and killed a man in his early 50s near the trestle over the Mokelumne River.

The train blocked traffic in Downtown from Lockeford to Pine streets for at least an hour. Lodi Police Sgt. Steve Maynard said the man did not have any identification, so the department is waiting for the San Joaquin Coroner to release his identity.
