Galt development document approved

Galt’s Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy Advisory Committee has adopted a formal document that aims to improve Galt’s economic viability.

It was approved Monday with only a few minor changes, and is expected to go before the Economic Development Administration for final approval next week, according to City Manager Jason Behrmann.

The formal document could make the city eligible for federal money for commercial, entrepreneurial, industrial and recreational development.

The committee includes two Galt City Council members, as well as representatives from both of the city’s school districts, the Chamber of Commerce and local businesses. They have been meeting to update a 2008 version of a similar economic document.

The new one is expected to be posted on the city’s website next week.

It aims to create additional jobs and revenue for the Galt community.

The city’s development opportunities include commercial, entrepreneurship, industrial, and sports and recreation, according to the report.
