Pedestrian on life support after being struck by vehicle

Lodi police officers responded to a call regarding a pedestrian who had been struck by a late-model black Chevrolet Camaro while jaywalking on the 600 block of South Cherokee Lane near Murray Street at approximately 7:15 p.m. on Wednesday, causing a temporary traffic shutdown, according to Lt. Shad Canestrino.

The victim, a 51-year old transient male whose identity has not been released pending a next-of-kin notification, was transported to the hospital, where he is currently on life support in critical condition.
