Of all the destinations to visit in Lodi, from the wineries to the many eateries, one that may surprise you is an award-winning hotel with a distinctively local flavor.
The Hampton Inn & Suites Lodi is located just east of Highway 99 near Kettleman Lane, and was recently bestowed one of the highest honors that the Hampton chain gives, the Lighthouse Award. The award is only given to the top 5 percent of the Hampton Inn & Suites in the nation. Currently, according to the most recent report by Hilton Hotels, the parent of Hampton, the Hampton Inn & Suites Lodi ranks 28th nationally, and second in the state.
This is the second consecutive Lighthouse Award that the Lodi Hampton has received.
The award is based on an aggregate of three scores taken throughout the year.
"We get scores from the quality assurance inspector, customer satisfaction reports, and also customer loyalty," said Lodi Hampton manager Martin Murallon. "Our most recent score from the inspector was a 99.7 percent, one of the highest scores he has given to a hotel."
The inspector visits on a biannual basis unannounced.
Murallon has been with the Lodi Hampton since it opened in July 2008, and has had a history with hotels that dates to when he graduated from high school. He has worked for Geweke Hospitality, the owners of the Lodi Hampton, for seven years, previously managing the former Holiday Inn Express on Cherokee Lane, also owned by Geweke Hospitality.
Murallon said that the key to getting the scores and awards that the Lodi Hampton has received has been the teamwork of the staff.
"It's a big team effort. It's not just one person's achievement. Our mentality is that we're going to get inspected every day. We try to treat guests like family, and that's why we've been so successful," Murallon said.
A notable feature of the Lodi Hampton is that they carry Lodi wine, and all rooms feature photography by Lodi photographer Dee Yates.
"We pride ourselves on being in Lodi," said Murallon. "When Lodi succeeds, we succeed. We like to show Lodi hospitality, and we try to promote Lodi when we can, and that includes our award-winning local wineries and artists."
The Lodi Hampton is located at 1337 Beckman Road. For information, call 209-369-2700.
