Some unique graffiti was discovered at Elkhorn Elementary School on Monday morning.
Students have spent hours coming in after school to paint murals on the school's walls. Sixth-graders worked on a mural depicting Greek myths, while the fifth-graders' mural included scenes from American history.
But someone took roofing tar and covered the faces of characters on the murals, then plastered them with pages torn out of a Bible. The door to room 3 was also hit with tar and pages.
The Bible pages were removed and saved by middle school teacher Dave Cline.
The school contacted district maintenance officials to try to remove the tar, but it has proved difficult. It is likely that the murals will have to be painted over.
