City Council takes a tour of the Lodi Animal Shelter

Members learn about the adoption process — and shelter’s oddest animals

Lodi City Council members Tuesday learned that some of the loudest and messiest overnight visitors at the Lodi Animal Shelter were four tropical birds, and that purebred dogs are frequently up for adoption.

Shelter supervisor Jennifer Bender led the five council members around the shelter and the building where people can adopt or register their pets as part of the council’s early morning study session.

The Lodi Animal Shelter (PALS) is a wonderful organization. I got our little terrier mix there last year and she is just perfect. The staff is professional, friendly and caring. The animals are well cared for and the adoption was painless as they make all arrangements for spaying and vaccinating for you. I would recommend anyone wanting a new pet to visit them and see what they have.
