The Galt Joint Union Elementary School District recently learned it was the recipient of a trio of grants earmarked for its school libraries.

Greer, Valley Oaks and Lake Canyon elementary schools will each receive $1,200.

The Sacramento-based Whitney Pinkerton Fund offered money for the region’s public, private and K-12 school libraries for the purpose of adding books to the libraries’ general or special collections.

School board trustee John Gordon submitted the proposals for the district’s campuses. Due to time constraints, he said he picked three schools that had compelling stories.

“This wouldn’t be possible without the help of librarian Char Keane and support from Jennifer Collier and Lori Ginni,” he wrote in an email.

The Sacramento Region Community Foundation, which sponsors the Pinkerton fund, is an advocate for quality of life, dedicated since 1983 to connecting people who care with charitable causes, according to its web site.
