Only five people filed written protests of the Galt rate changes that will increase bills for most residents by 61 cents.
The main changes include water rates increasing by $3.43 a month while the wastewater treatment plant upgrade fee went down by $3.43, essentially canceling each other out, Public Works Director Gregg Halladay said.

Mr. Santillan, it seems Galt has the same old deadheads year after year on council and is a copy of Lodi city council. They pander to the developer, builder, contractor and real estate business associates of theirs at the taxpayers' expense to line their own pockets while spinning untrue facts to make these raises seem justified. So the trash company, Vaccarezza, I presume, EXPECTS landfill costs to increase? So this council raises garbage rates on expectations and not facts or figures? Tyranny at its best.

there is no backlash at these meetings because the city is going to make the increase no matter how many people write in or show up and protest.....it has happened in the past and will continue to happen.....one thing i want to know is when we are going to get our water cleaned up to safe levels where the arsenic is BELOW the legal level.....our water arsenic level is still above the level allowed by law and we continue to pay to get it fixed and it still is not.....but hey, we have deep pockets us citizens....keep raising it city of galt.....we can afford it....;)
