CHP launches programs for Teen Driver Safety Week

With 1,972 drivers ages 15 to 18 involved in fatal traffic collisions resulting in 1730 teen deaths in 2015, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, California Highway Patrol has developed several new programs to educate teen drivers and their families as a part of its recognition of National Teen Driver Safety Week, which lasts from Oct. 15 to Oct. 21., according to a press release from CHP.

The Start Smart class, includes a mobile application to help guide young drivers through the process of getting their licenses, while Every 15 Minutes targets high school juniors and seniors, teaching the effects that drinking, driving, personal safety and decision making can have on their friends and family.
