On Tuesday, the San Joaquin County Board of Supervisors
Appointed Timothy Arnold to the Morada Municipal Advisory
Council. He replaces Carlton Mills Jr., who resigned after serving
less than a year on the council. A 22-year Morada resident, Arnold
has been general manager of Bell Distributing in Stockton for 10
Hired Duncan Jones as park administrator to replace Craig Ogata,
who will retire June 30. Jones was public works director for eight
years for the town of Atherton, which includes administering
parks.Jones, who will begin his employment with the county on
Monday, will work with Ogata during the transition period. To save
money, the Parks and Recreation Department will become a division
of the county’s General Services Department.
Jones will receive $119,396 per year in salary and benefits,
which equates to $50,513.76 for the remainder of the current fiscal
year. The cost will be offset by salary savings from vacant
positions, General Services Director Gabe Karam said.

- Woodbridge Wilderness Area at a glance
Original name: Woodbridge Regional Park.
County ownership: Since 1985, when developer
George Ferrero donated the 17-acre parcel in lieu of park
dedication fees for the River Meadows subdivision.
Name change: Renamed Woodbridge Wilderness Area
in January 2005 to emphasize that the area doesn’t have typical
park amenities like picnic tables and restrooms.
Entrance: North end of Meadowlark Drive at
River Meadows Drive.
Prohibited activities: Fires, smoking,
barbecues, motorized vehicles, dogs other than service animals.

The Woodbridge Wilderness Area, which was open one weekend a
month on a trial basis in 2011, will be open to the public two
weeks a month this year.
The San Joaquin County Board of Supervisors voted 4-0 on Tuesday
to expand public hours to the first and third weekend of each
month, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Supervisor Leroy Ornellas was absent
because he was representing the county at another meeting.
