Kyla Cathey has been named news editor of the Lodi News-Sentinel, one of several staff changes at the newspaper in recent weeks.
Cathey served as assistant news editor before her promotion. In her new job, she has overall responsibility for the copy editing and page design operations of the News-Sentinel. Cathey is a graduate of Galt High School and Adelphi University in Garden City, N.Y., where she majored in history and anthropology. Cathey lives in Lodi and succeeds Brian Craig, who has joined the Marin Independent-Journal newspaper.
Lodi City Hall reporter Maggie Creamer has taken on the additional role of online editor, helping coordinate content and social media for the paper’s website.
Joining the paper as business and Galt city hall reporter is Katie Nelson, a graduate of the University of California, Berkeley and a former intern at the San Francisco Chronicle. Nelson will also serve as the paper’s coordinator of contributed content.
Joining the paper as sports writer and copy editor is Ed Yevelev, also a UC Berkeley grad and former sports editor of the Daily Cal. He will cover prep sports and provide new sports content for LodiNews.com. He replaces Joelle Milholm, who is pursuing a work/study opportunity at California State Unviersity, Bakersfield.
“We’re excited by these changes, which will help strengthen not only the print version of the News-Sentinel but our online efforts,” said Rich Hanner, News-Sentinel editor.
