Lodi Police Chief Mark Helms presented a resolution to Animal Control Supervisor Jennifer Bender at the April 2 meeting of the Lodi City Council, proclaiming the week of April 13 to 19 as National Animal Control Officer Appreciation Week.

Every day, animal services officers answer calls for assistance, capture roaming and dangerous dogs, rescue animals in danger, investigate reports of animal abuse and neglect, transport injured animals to veterinarians for care, educate pet owners about responsible pet care and mediate disputes between neighbors regarding pets.
