Lodi police make five DUI arrests at checkpoint

The Lodi Police Department arrested five people on suspicion of driving under the influence of intoxicants during a checkpoint conducted Saturday night and Sunday morning.

Lodi police screened 604 vehicles at the checkpoint on the 1900 block of West Kettleman Lane between 7:30 p.m. and 3:30 a.m. Officers gave eight field sobriety tests, and arrested five drivers for driving under the influence of alcohol, according to Lodi Police Sgt. Shad Canestrino.

In addition:

  • Eight drivers were cited for operating a vehicle without a license.
  • Five drivers were cited for operating a vehicle while their license was suspended or revoked.
  • 12 vehicles were towed and eight of those will be impounded for 30 days.

Police also made four other misdemeanor arrests.
